Hi Carlos,

Thanks very much for that! I'm looking forward to that article that would discuss this interesting and vital topic.

I'm sure that others as well are very interested in having their own startup businesses.

Thanks again!

Hi Don,

I think it depends on your target market. If you intend to do freelance work from a client abroad who doesn't care whether you are alone or with a registered business, then getting a local business permit or DTI registration is just for beautification. But if your target is the local clients who will be requiring that you issue an Official Receipt, then it becomes necessary and even to your advantage.

I think I missed to mention in this website that I have a registered web development business that I run from home. I find it very useful having a registered business and still declare myself a freelancer.

I have more to write about this stuff in the future articles.

Thanks for dropping by.

Hi Carlos,

Got to read your blog weeks ago and i am very grateful for you sharing your philosophies. The articles are really informative and encouraging. Since I have been reading your articles, I would like to ask one question that would really help me and others as well.

Is it important for freelancers to apply/register with BIR or DTI? What are its disadvantages and advantages? Is it advisable?

The question really bothers me since I am already an employee and have been paying my taxes (most, if not all, end up in corrupt pockets).

Many thanks!
